New IT ingredient for Formula Foods

Christchurch web developer and website designer 1 Destiny have adopted a novel concept in business workflow analysis at Formula Foods.

1 Destiny specialises in the development of bespoke software to harness the potential of the Internet to streamline workflow and work processes in the business environment. The capacity of the Internet to broadcast and share information and data instantaneously between departments, sites, and even vehicles can result in significant time (and therefore cost) savings.

When Formula Foods were introduced to 1 Destiny (and vice versa), an immediate affinity was established; so much so that, when 1 Destiny suggested that they actually work inside Formula Foods to find out what made the operation tick, the offer was accepted. So that is what happened.

To lay the foundation for future communications development, 1 Destiny’s first project has been to redevelop the Formula foods web site, which is about to go live on the Internet. More than just a “face-lift”, the new web site will be powered by additional functionality in readiness for its future role as the hub for internal and external communication between Formula Foods and its clients, suppliers and staff.

www.nationalcarshare.co.nz is launched by 1 Destiny

1 Destiny is a new company, but though the company may be new our resources and personnel are drawn from a wealth of experience gained in previous employment.

We wanted to give a real example what we are capable of, and in stead of creating a fictional web site just to show off our talents and which would be of no practical benefit to anyone, we decided to create a site that would make a real contribution to pollution reduction in our country and globally.

(And display our technical and design skills at the same time)

The end result is: www.nationalcarshare.co.nz

Car sharing or ride-sharing is a simple, low-cost way of reducing carbon based gas emissions. But to register rides, and to match drivers to passengers and allow them to communicate with one another, whilst at all times protecting their privacy, requires highly sophisticated programming and database design. Yet is must be simple and easy to use.

www.nationalcarshare.co.nz was conceived and produced exclusively by members of the 1 Destiny Team.

"Lift sharing", "ride-sharing", "car-sharing" or "carpooling" – It doesn't matter what you call it, it boils down to the same thing – two or more people sharing a car to get from A to B rather than driving alone. The benefits are numerous both for individuals, families, communities and the environment. You save money on running costs, you save time looking for parking spaces and you help to save the planet and our beautiful country by reducing your carbon footprint.

For example, if everyone who drives on their own to work every day were to catch a lift with someone just once a week, and give the other driver a lift on one of the other days, the commuting car journeys would reduce by 20%! And both parties would save money!

www.nationalcarshare.co.nz is free to register and use by all.
